When I was little I wanted to be a travel agent when I grew up. Of course, that all changed when I got to college and decided I'd rather be a truck driver. Who goes to college to be a travel agent? Silly me. And really, the truck driver thing had nothing to do with any classes I took at the University of Michigan. It had more to do with my friend Adam's roommate, Eric, who was smokin' hot. Eric called me one day and said his uncle, who was a truck driver, would be driving through Ann Arbor later that evening to pick him up and take him to Florida for a couple days. Then I almost died because Eric invited me to go along with them. Unfortunately I was unable to go because I had a midterm that I didn't think I could miss. I should have missed the midterm and gone on the trip because a couple months later Eric decided he was a born again Christian. I had missed my big chance of hooking up with him. Bummer. I figured it meant I was meant to be a truck driver. That's why I'm getting a masters degree in social work. Duh.
But about that travel agent thing. It's a good thing I went to college instead because I am pretty sure I would have been a really shitty travel agent. The Tigers' spring training schedule was released in December. I just didn't feel like planning the trip, maybe because I didn't feel like spending anymore money? Yeah. Right. This weekend I finally decided to book a flight and buy tickets for the games. In that order. Stupid! Stupid!! Stupid!!! The good news is that I found very reasonably priced flights! Yay! The bad news is that after I paid for the nonrefundable plane tickets I went to buy tickets for the games we wanted to attend. I guess I forgot that the Tigers were in the World Series this year and many people would have jumped on the bandwagon, including the spring training bandwagon. I was only able to get tickets to one away game on Ticketmaster and had to get tickets to another away game on Stubhub. So. We are only seeing two games and neither of them are home games. Oh, and one of the games is split squad. I was very sad and feeling like a big moron for waiting so long. Jesse said he was surprised because last year we had no problems getting tickets to see the Tigers play the Yankees. I reminded him that last year the Tigers sucked and nobody gave a shit about seeing them play. I'm so happy for the Tigers but frustrated that we weren't able to get tickets to all the games we wanted to see. I want to call them and tell them that I've been to spring training for the past 4 years so I deserve something. But I already feel bad and I'm pretty sure when they laugh at me I'll just feel worse.
Oh well. It will be nice to get out of Michigan for a few days. Hopefully the weather will be nice and we'll find fun things to do, like play the doggies.
I'm feeling a little better already.
