las vegas ... day 2

Friday morning I wanted to sleep in more than anything in the world. Is that too much to ask? Apparently. I woke up at 8 or something equally as stupid. Of course I couldn't get back to sleep. I had visions of slot machines and showgirls running through my head! We got up and decided to find our way to get our marriage license.

The new Department of Justice building where we got our license is by the Fremont area. After we filled out our forms with the little pencils you get at Ikea or at a miniature golf place and paid our $55 and got our marriage license we went to find Chris and Elke. They flew in the night before and we weren't able to hook up with them. We found them!

We all headed back to Jesse and my hotel to drop off some stuff and then head out to meet Joel and Amanda. Pete Rose signs autographs at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. We had decided we would go and get an autograph. We knew we would have to pay but had no idea how much. I expected $50 or so. I mean, it's not like he is a hall-of-fame candidate! Unfortunately, Mr. Rose charges $70 for an autograph. They said he would write whatever you wanted for that $70. Um. No. I got a polaroid taken of me looking pissed with Pete in the background. It's very funny.

We wandered around the shops for a while and stopped to get some cocktails. I called Joanna and they were over at the Venetian so we decided to head over there to see what those crazy kids were up to. Of course we had to make a stop along the way.

Aren't they cute?

The Venetian was really cool. Lots to do and see! We walked around for a while then sat in the sports area to watch the Tigers game. While we were there Jesse got a call from his dad. Their flight to Vegas from Washington, DC had been cancelled due to a really big storm. They ended up getting a room in DC and didn't make it to Vegas. We were really bummed that they couldn't make it but were grateful that they were safe and sound!

Jesse and I decided to go back to the hotel to relax for a while before meeting up with people again. It took us forever to get back to our room and then Jesse was dealing with the airline and hotels to try to get refunds on his dad's trip. So much for relaxing! We ended up getting dinner at 10PM. His friend, Justin, arrived in Vegas so he met us at our hotel. We wanted to meet Joel and Amanda and Erica and Fitz but just weren't sure what was going on. By the time we finally decided to go with Justin to check in to his hotel and meet Joel and Amanda there too, Erica and Fitz had ridden a bus for 45 minutes to get to our hotel only to get there right as we were leaving in a cab. I felt awful! I am the worst friend ever!! We went to Justin's hotel and tried to catch the bikini bull riding show but didn't end up getting there in time. So not only did I piss off my friends, I missed the freaking bikini bull riding show! Oh the night wasn't going well. From Justin's hotel we went to the Stardust to gamble for a while but I didn't end up winning anything. Since I didn't get much sleep the night before, I was ready to go around 2. Or was it 3? On our way back to our hotel our cab got rear-ended. It was really a pretty light tap but definitely hard enough to be able to feel it. Luckily we were a half block from the hotel and ended up just walking the rest of the way. It was just a messed up end to a messed up night.

Lucky for me, Erica and Fitz were very nice the next day when I called to apologize and beg forgiveness. Whew!!

I was looking forward to getting a good night of sleep because I was getting married the next day!

Wow. I can't wait to hear what happened the next day. I love all your pictures and I don't blame you for skipping Pete Rose. What a scam!

I didn't know you got rear ended. I mean in the cab. Not the hotel room. Because I don't want to know about that!
