i need to find something to do.

Now that I have less of a life than I had when I was working, I don't feel like blogging. Ever. I think that I think of funny things to write about then I realize that I am just lame. Really really lame. You already knew that. So I'll just write lame things.

Yesterday I got a new windshield. I got to spend an hour in the waiting area of the glass place. Lucky for me the ladies that worked in the office were listening to talk radio. Yeah. Until I realized they were listening to Christian talk radio which is waaaaaaaaay different than the NPR I'm used to and in love with. I took a Ritalin and was able to tune it out while I read the New Yorker magazine I had taken with me. It's a good thing I thought ahead and took my own reading material since the most recent magazine in the waiting room was some parenting magazine from January 2004. Sports Illustrated from October 2003 just wasn't going to keep my interest for very long. Although maybe I should have looked at it. Could have been interesting for historical purposes.

The glass place was in Clinton Township. I found where all the thrift shops are. Its interesting to me that there are no big thrift shops in Detroit. Goodwill has a great program here but no store. Salvation Army left town but I don't think they had a store either. So what I realized as I shopped at a huge Salvation Army store AND an even bigger St. Vincent dePaul store was that Detroit is too poor to even have thrift shops. Poor people need to buy used shit. But poorer people don't have any used shit to donate to agencies that will turn around and sell it to poor people to fund programs that serve said poor people. Oh what a vicious cycle. I never donate my used shit to agencies that turn around and sell it to people. Wait! If the agency will make exceptions for poor people in need of household items but are unable to afford them then I will give them my used shit. One of my biggest pet peeves was when I was working with someone that found an apartment but had absolutely no furniture and when I called a thrift shop, they weren't willing to donate anything. Assholes. I also hate it when an agency has thrift shops to fund programs but is very picky about who can access those programs. There is a family shelter in the county I used to work in that would only let couples stay if they were married. Anyway...

I worked on my photo organization project today. Since I went digital I haven't printed out any photos so I worked on figuring out which ones I want hard copies of and uploaded them to the Costco photo center. When I get all caught up with putting the photos already on hand in albums I'll get the new ones printed up. I take waaaaaay too many photos.

Our wedding invites came today! Tomorrow I'll work on addressing them and hopefully get them sent out by Friday or Saturday. They turned out really well. I was a little worried because I ordered them online and was too cheap to pay the $5 to get a proof emailed to me before they were printed. Whew!

When I was talking to my mom tonight I told her that our new bed is being delivered tomorrow. She's very excited for us and said, "Oh I can't wait to hear all about it!" Um. I told her that sounds really strange and kind of dirty. She was cracking up. The guy that helped us at the furniture store told us that his title was "bed master." I bet he gets all the chicks.
