green thumb.

Our yard is a mess. It hasn't been really cared for in a loooooong time and probably won't be for at least one or two more looooooong times. Or as long as we live here. The back yard is all uneven and there are more weeds than grass. There are some pretty rose bushes but they have grown all out of control and crazy. A concrete walk goes down the side to the garage that we can't use. On the long patch of land between the concrete and the neighbors yard we have a lovely bed of weeds. Sometimes the weeds get so big I can't even cut them with the weedwacker (whacker?). It sucks and I don't know anything about landscaping. Let's not kid ourselves though. Even if I did know something about landscaping we all know that nothing would get done because I'm so lazy.

When I went to the farm to hang out with Joanna a few weeks ago I brought home some plants from their greenhouse. Tomatoes, cilantro and zinnias. They have been sitting in their little baby plant containers since I came home. Yesterday I decided it was time to set them free. I actually weeded a little area and planted four tomato plants and a bunch of cilantro. I planted two more tomato plants in a big container and will plant the zinnias and rest of the cilantro in pots for the porch. I had also bought some basil, mint and lavender seeds that I plan on trying to grow as soon as I go to the garden center at my local home improvement super store to purchase more dirt and other supplies. I can't forget the marigolds because I swear to God, if I see one tomato worm I'm going to have to burn the entire back yard.

Let's see how long it is before I have to report that everything is dead because I am the worst/laziest gardener in the entire universe. Yeah. I'm that bad.
