it's dark in here.

Last night at around 8PM the power went out on Parker St. It kind of sucked because it was really hot yesterday and I was watching the Tigers play the Blue Jays on the television that requires power. And I had actually taken work home and was working on it. But once the air conditioner went off (it also requires power) I was hot and far too crabby to work on work. Couldn't check my email or read funny things on the internet. The neighbor's house alarm started to go off shortly after the power went out. It has a very long back up battery and because our houses are about 4 feet away from each other it was very loud and very annoying. Hmmm. There was only one thing I could think of to do in that situation. So I tried to eat the pint of Ben & Jerry's before it melted. We lit candles on the back porch and sat there and enjoyed one another's company. I thought it would be a good idea to call my parents. So I did. I talked to them for a long time. I think we went to bed around 10:30. Maybe? It was really hot and by that time two house alarms were going off. On Sunday I purchased some noise cancelling headphones so I decided to try them out. They worked very very well. Luckily the power came back around 11:15PM. Ah sweet air conditioning.

This morning when I left for work the sun was shining in the D. By the time I got out of the city it had started to rain quite hard. I couldn't believe how dark the sky had gotten in that short amount of time. It was really dark. Then I realized I still had my sunglasses on.

Just for the record, we didn't lose power. But then again, I went to bed around 9:45 last night because John took the kids to the White Caps game.
