If you haven't figured it out by now, I will just tell you. I really like watching sports. Mostly baseball, but I also enjoy hockey (college, and if there's an NHL, that too!) and football (go BLUE!). Because I watch these sports and do not partake, my knowledge of them is somewhat limited. I am aware of the basics and maybe a little bit more of the basics when it comes to baseball. What I'm getting at is that I don't claim to know everything about anything. I definitely don't expect others to know anything about the sports I enjoy. However, I was blown away by my supervisor during this morning's team meeting. A co-worker asked me what kinds of events were going on for All-Star Game. As I began to tell her, my supervisor said...
Supervisor: What is this all-star game thing you keep talking about? Is it baseball?
Me: Yes (...and before I could go on she said...)
S: Well are you going to go? I know how much you like baseball. But what is so important about an all-star game?
Me: It's the best players from Major League Baseball (...and before I could finish...)
S: Oh. I heard you talk about it but didn't know what an all-star game was.
Again, I don't claim to know everything about anything, or anything about anything for that matter, but aren't the words "All-Star Game" kind of self explanatory? I don't know. Maybe it's just me being mean and wanting to think I'm better than her.
